2014, 2014, 2014

It’s such a nicer sounding word than 2013, isn’t it?

“Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new

day with no mistakes in it yet?”

~Anne of Green Gables

Another year has gone by. It’s a always weird to me, January 1st, because the year truly is over. The holidays are over. And I’ll be seventeen, which leaves me one year until eighteen, which is more than a bit scary. But lets not dwell on that (though I have been for the last week, unfortunately for my poor family).
I’m not making any new years resolutions, because I never keep them, but I will try to post on this blog more. It was first year at community college this fall, so I can heap excuses on that, but it’s probably more down to laziness.

As the new year has dawned, that means a new year of writing dawns. For me, that means fretting over if I can write a good novel, and writing a bunch of short stories to submit to collages for my portfolio. But I’d rather not think about colleges, really. But I do like to think about short stories– I work with them best. I haven’t developed my ability at planning out a complicated, long plots yet, so novels are hard.

I am going to try to clear out some old stuff on my Figment account, and start putting new content on there.  I’ll probably put the stories I post up here too, as I’d love for you all to see them! And I’m taking English 101 this term, so ideally that would make me write more regularly, but it won’t be fiction, just essays. That could help in my blog posting skills though.

But enough about me. How has your past year been? What are your hopes for the new year?

Also, I have reached forty followers. Thank you so much all! And I promise a longer post next time.

Love,

Avon

The Inner Peace and Sunshine Award

I was nominated by Joan! Thank you so much! And sorry this is so late. I’m looking sheepish right now, I swear.

And now for seven things about the brilliant, amazing, yours truly.

1. I am a vegan–if I wasn’t allergic to eggs and dairy, I would just be a vegetarian though. And I still eat honey–but no gelatin, etc, and I don’t wear leather.

2. I’m in community collage. It is very weird. Mostly because I just realized I was one of the older kids at other activities I’m in now…but here, I’m not. At all. Also, it’s collage. That just feels weird.

3. I may or may not be addicted to tumblr.

4. I have a habit of getting really into TV shows and/or binge watching them. My current binge watch is the The Office–I’m on the finale of season four right now. Only five more seasons to go! (yes, it went for nine seasons. That fact makes me very happy.)

5. One of my favorite movies ever is Monsters Inc. When I was four, I went to see it in theaters as much as my parents would allow, then re-watched it on DVD (actually, I think it was VCR back then. Wow. I am old.) even more times. I was kinda obsessed with it. As you can imagine, I was rather emotional about Monsters University when I saw it.

6. I really like to write fluffy fanfiction–my original fiction more varies– and read fluffy stuff. I don’t really understand the dystopian trend right now–not to say I don’t like some of the books, I just don’t understand it. I prefer happier things, especially ones with humor.

7.  I just started reading Les Miserables, and it’s fantastic!

The Award that Tells You That I Am Inspiring

Yep. I am.

Miss Alexandria, a wonderful blogger and steampunker,  gave me a lovely award! Thank you! And you guys should, you know, go follow her.

Le Rules:

4. Drop them a comment to tip them off after you’ve linked them in the post
5. Post 7 interesting things about yourself.

Hmm. Seven interesting things…

1. I play the violin. Very basically however, and I hardly ever actually, you know, play it.

2. I have the habit of blanking when I am supposed to name my favorite books,  a certain amount of them, etc. This is happening now.

3.  I’ve written one novel. It seriously needs a lot of revising.

4.  I am most proud of a character that I created in a steampunk roleplay. Edith. I may have mentioned her once or twice.

5. I love history. I am not that good at exact dates, but I love learning about people’s stories, or just…history. It’s fascinating.

6. I love listening to music–all kinds. It inspires me. Yet, I am not that musical.

7. I’m Christian. Non-denominational.

THE EPIC BLOGGERS

NevilleGirl Her blog is what introduced me to WordPress and the world of blogging, really. So she really deserves this.

Jasmine who I shall be seeing on Sunday! To say I am excited is a understatement.

Elyse  who drew baby Gertra and I am still dying of adorableness.

Orphu Epic blogger and her posts are hilarious.

Kiwi who is very awesome, and a great Nanoer.

Vee who has a very lovely blog!

Ann, who also likes Artemis Fowl! That speaks highly of her awesomeness.

Thay, who has a blog(obviously) and you can not tell how happy that makes me.

Brittani, who was one of the first people I flaired (no, spell check, flaired is a real word) about House of Anubis with.

Sarah, who is epic. Also. SOUFFLES.

Miriam,  who made me feel encouraged about revising/rewriting/second drafting.

Wren, who is very sweet and is a fellow actor!

Jordan, another fellow Nanoer!

Gabrielle, who likes classics and period dramas. Very good taste.

Sixteen. Yay.

I’m really not one of those people that gets excited for birthdays. Or for getting older. I mean…I don’t want to drive! I do want to get j

ob…but just a small one. But all in all…I’m not ready to be sixteen!

When I was little, sixteen always seemed so old to me. So in charge, mature, grownup. And I’m certainly not any of those…not that I want to be grownup–that’s what scares me. But I thought I would be less…confused about life at sixteen. Instead I’m more confused.

Wonderful.

Well, I’ll just sigh dramatically then. That’s always a good thing to do when writing about TEENAGE ANGST.

But I’ll cherish my youth…once I was thirteen, and that felt…scary. Now it seems nothing…sixteen…I may be getting older, but I’m still going to be as young and immature as I want to.

The Weirdest Meme on The Block

Thank you Orphu and Ann! I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m not entirely sure why it did(I think it has something to do with the new WordPress layout. It irritates me.)

  RULES OF WEIRDNESS

1. If you are tagged, answer the questions in the meme in a blog post on your blog.
2. Make sure at the beginning of your post you put a link to the blog of the person who tagged you.
3. Tag at least three people to do the same thing (you can tag more than three people if you would like).
4. Have fun!

Questions

What do you think the weirdest color is? Ooh…sickly lime green. Mainly because it makes me feel sick.

What is the weirdest TV show/movie you have ever seen?  I…don’t know. Maybe…well, once we were at the beach and watching TV(we just have one to watch DVDs, etc on) and their was a American’s Got Talent episode running.

They were doing trapeze work over hot coal.

What is the weirdest food you have ever tried? I have too many allergies to try strange food.

What is the weirdest drink you have ever tried? Hmm. Maybe this mango coconut drink? It was a soda like drink, so it was rather odd.

Who is your weirdest friend?  Oh, dear. Let’s see. Man. Um. Leah(fake name). Yes. Leah. DOLPHIN JUMP!

What is the weirdest thing you have ever seen on the internet? Oh honey. Where do you want me to began?

What is the weirdest thing your pet has ever done?  Haha, my dog is weird. This should be fun.

Once, we couldn’t find her and we were getting increasingly frantic. So, finally one of us opened the lower cabinet doors…and guess who was inside?

Also, she used to lay on top of our sofa’s back like a cat when she was a puppy. And when we still had a sofa.

What is the weirdest book you have ever read?  It was a book version of film about Igor. Yeah.

What is the weirdest blog you follow? Either Musings from Neville’s Navel or A Mirror Made of Words. Both are hilarious and wonderfully weird.

Three Weird Bloggers Whom I’ll Tag

1. Sarah. I JUST MET YOU AND THIS CRAZY, SO I’LL TAG YOU MAYBE?

2.  Jazzy. Just to, you know, make Atticus get annoyed by having to wait longer for his interview.

3. Kiwi!  Use the meme wisely. *fails at sounding Gandalf/Dumbledore like*

A Meme and New Years Resolutions

So, my friend Nevillegirl did this at her blog. It was originally taken from The Magic Violinist blog, and she originally took it from her Mom’s blog, and…well, I’m going to do it now.

I love it when…people hug me. It gives me a warm, safe feeling.

I can’t sleep when… I’ve watched a movie like The Woman In Black.

I have a phobia of… Corresponding to the answer above, monsters of the night.

I wish I had… um, I don’t really know…a published, paid for, piece of writing I suppose.

I always smile when…  I watch The Nanny.

I need… New Pajamas. Yes. My Hello Kitty ones are getting worn.

I want… Dragonspeak. And a cool singing voice.

I think most people think I am… That quiet and polite girl.

I think strawberries are…   Delicious. Now that I’m not allergic to them any more.

I think I am… A bit of nerd, and childish. A good person, but not perfect.

My best friend thinks I am…  I don’t have a best friend. I do have a group of good friends though?  My friends I know in person probably think I’m quiet, sweet, and a bit awkward. Online– steampunk nerd(okay, everyone probably knows about my love of steampunk), nerd in general, good kind of crazy.

My family thinks I am… ME. I mean, they just know me. And I’m a combination of everything listed above, with added stuff.

I used to wear…  Lots of dresses. I still would, but being a teenager and wearing lots of dresses generally doesn’t work out well for you.

I wish I knew how to cook… dolmas. They’re so good, and I could eat them every day then! Excuse me while I try not to go to crazy at the prospect.

I wish I didn’t…  Develop habits that I have trouble breaking. Oh, and snap at people.

I’m glad I…  Have my family. Am a writer.

The last movie I saw in the theater was…  Les Miserable.

It was… Amazing, to say the least. Now I shall go bawl.

The last movie I saw on TV was.. I only have a TV that you can insert DVDs, etc in. So, the last movie I saw on it…erh…part of Pride and Prejudice? Also, on Netflix, I recently saw Hugo.

It was… Hilarious as usual. They really play Pride and Prejudice for laughs. Hugo was so steampunk that it made my heart do a little flip.

If I had a month off from everything I would… I’m not sure, really. Write more, I guess.

Today I…  Had my eyes examined. Same as last time…(this would be a good time to mention, that I wear contacts. Thats your random fact of the day, kids!)

Yesterday I…  Went to my leadership group’s meeting.

I like… lots of people, lots of things. Love really. Speaking of love, I like love. Or love love. That’s starting to sound confusing.

Well, now for  my New Years Resolutions. Now,  I’m not big on them really. I mean, I don’t usually keep them…at all. So why make them? But, I’m going to make a list anyway…these are more ‘things I hope to accomplish/and ways I hope to better myself’ then ‘New Years Resolutions’.

1. Work on not snapping at people. Yes, I know that I need to work on this.

2. Participate in FAWM. February Album Writing Month. I am writing a musical, so this should be a good resource, whether I use it for that or not.

3. Get a good solid plan(at least) for my dystopian novel. I’m obsessing a bit about it, but I’ll regret it if I stop obsessing. Or maybe that’s just me obsessing.

4. Stop wishing that fictional roleplay character was real so I could date him. This is one I’ll fail at.

5. Meet a published author. I wish it could be Eoin Colfer. Maybe. Maybe he’ll go on tour near me.

6. Get a short story, poem, etc published. Oh, I hope so.

So, there you are! Happy 2013 ya all! I love you all. ❤

Also, I hope to get the review(as it won the poll) of The Infernal Devices: The Clockwork Angel published soon.

“Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?”

Here’s the original — The Thought Palette.

Now! Five things about the amazing Avon. Let’s see….

1. Eoin Colfer once said I was intensely cool. Or, rather…

Horse Sense. That’s me. Probably one of the best compliments I’ve ever received. Seriously. I could hardly breath when I read that.

2. I get so confused when it comes to my left and right hands. Or feet.

3. I’m writing a musical based on a roleplay I’m in. Something tells me I’m too into this role-play…

4.  I’ve only opened one present so far, and I have three left. Applaud my self-control.

5. I’m thinking of auditions now, and feeling a bit sick. I hate auditions.

And now my Award Receivers!

1. Jasmine from Between the Lines. ‘ello, fellow Shifter! Someday I’ll see you published, I just know it.

2. Annika from Beyond The Moon. My other fellow Shifter! You write such wonderful characters– Demi and Kyrie are both so good, yet so different.

3. Kiwi from Ramblings of a Kiwi Young Writer. Thank you for commenting so much!

4. Shim from Magic and Writing. You’re awesome. Thanks for participating in Character Interviews!

5. NevilleFan from A Teenage Writer. She happens to be my first follower! Thanks!

6. And one to Gabrielle at the Humble Abode of Gabblemac. I don’t know you that well…but you wrote a good review about Anne of Green Gables, so you deserve it.

Merry Christmas or whatever December Holiday you celebrate!
